The French Revolution

Vastly similar to current events, worldwide. But this was all predictable. Therefore, I think that--because unlike most places where people write, there are no solutions brought forward; only more attention-seeking blather--my opinion is that We, the People are at the stage where We unite and defeat our foe. After, then, We see where the chips have landed, and then determine the next step forward. Meanwhile, I have 3 things forthcoming: my old-school fairytale, of which I say no more but an update is due (this is basically poetry so it will not sell--though there is a chance there it could, as in some occasions, poetry can sell); a book that is not a memoir and seeks to interpret all things manly, down to the writing style, so it is something in between like a non-fiction story, that is really based on real events where the names are changed or some other kind of New Journalism. Now, tell me how a book about Man-lihood of the Highest Order would not sell. In an era of these books ...

Queen Elizabeth's Funeral

There will be approximately 100 million (or less) people watching TV worldwide for Her Majesty's funeral and (maybe) 1 million people "in London" some how or the other interested in the funeral. I only bring this point up because there seems to be such heavy emphasis on this funeral and all of its related events, which seem to go on forever, and get a bit repetitious in terms of one constantly seeing "British Tradition" on TV, and it gets to the point where the event feels planned for its "historical significance"--when, in fact, said significance has already worn out its due. Let's be candid: on the split screen are other, suppressed updates about King Charles's blunders or the various countries lined up—oh, excuse me, queued up— and ready to exit the UK.  By contrast, which I have written several times because--not to make a petty point--but to impress the sheer importance of the largely overlooked event: Princess Diana's funeral was wat...

Dewbs & Co | Monday 12th September

Pretty much incredible on several levels. I would like to present some analysis in some days. “As Shakespeare said of the earlier Queen Elizabeth, she was a pattern to all princes living," said King Charles III. Yes, however, that pattern is quite faded these days. Still, it is a recognizable pattern--if you search for it. Because, after all, that pattern as Shakespeare saw it was rather different from today's. Furthermore, and quite frankly--while I respect our Great Ally, Great Britain--I pay my respects to not only a Queen today; but also one Prince of Wales--and one Princess of Wales. For yes, she was a pattern--just as in the past--to all living Princes (esses). She is, so far, widely respected--with a few exceptions. But, it is not the great masses, let's be clear. Still, and importantly, widely reverential, in an entirely and very curiously British way. This continues for some days.

Rings of Power--Episode 3

This series has been slammed by critics,  most of whom are highly-sophisticated, Middle-Earth experts. I thought the 3rd show picked up a notch in interest; but it was still very, very boring. There is almost nothing good or exciting about the show--other than the mystique of the story being about Tolkien's Middle-Earth or Numenor. And yet, the costumes are stunning, the sets are incredible, and the level of detail to every aspect of the show, from artwork to music, is excellent. The computer graphics is amazing, and the acting is fairly good all around--as good as anything else nowadays, and some of the actors are quite good. The original story of Tolkien is there at the heart, so what has gone so badly wrong? Clearly, it is the writing that is horrendous, and it alone has the power to drag down the entire show with it. The first problem is that this part of Tolkien's work was his long-winded backstory to what was obviously, always his main focus and effort: Lord of the Ring...

Sadly, Queen Elizabeth II has Died

I once rode on the QEII, when I immigrated to America--obviously, with class. Her body will lay in a semi-state place for two days and then her body will "lie in state" for three days. Now, look, when I die I would like to "lay in state" for three days. You can put my body in the middle of the living room. Land of the pilgrim's pride, Land where my fathers died, From every mountainside, Let Freedom reign....

SHOCKER: Liz Truss Wins UK's PM

I truly was the first person on Planet Earth to accurately predict this outcome as contained herein, in writing, on this blog. So yet again, I am always right--as usual. This is why I am El Cassandro; I am not called that, I am that. As an American, I cannot fathom how the United Kingdom simply sends its immigrants to Rwanda. Is there, like, some kind of insider government deal at play there? There are so many questions--please. It is perhaps the most Un-American kind of "immigration policy" imaginable. It is unimaginable. But anyway, it's not my country, and not my people. Thank God I'm an American, and I have a Bill of Rights, and I am a Nation of Immigrants. We, the People have our own immigration policy problems--clearly. So, justice, yes, that is key to the UK; but how to define it, that is the rub. Let's define that. In America, if you make it here, then you're an American. End of Story. And that is thanks to the laws of that particular moment. Because ...

Rings of Power

I have several observations about this series, which I shall discuss in detail, and provide overall analysis. For now, let me say that the fact that I am discussing anything at all means that the show is worthy of my discussion--ergo, it is good. But I have not drawn any conclusions. Here is my first observation: every character speaks with a British accent. Why is this? Yet we have no type casting i.e. black elves and hobbits, etc. What is it about speaking with a British accent that makes a character seem more "authentic"? Is an American accent somehow "unworthy"? But this is okay in the end because after all the work is Tolkien's, and he was British. So it's all good. However, if you listen closely you can see that there are degrees that are very subtly placed; some speak with an Australian accent, and even more subtly, the accents are assigned to certain characters. So, the "high elves" are British, and those elves are concerned with law and g...

Nigel Farage Will be UK's Next PM (after Liz Truss)

He is already considering it, that is plain; yet, only just recently. It you stack up the odds, and the circumstances, I see no way around it. The other 2 candidates would be weak by comparison, and with Boris Johnson's election, Farage, who could have been PM at that election as I have noted in writing prior to that event, took votes from both parties, and not just a few here and there. In the case of the forthcoming election--not the one in a few days--the 2 candidates would be fairly weak by comparison. Mark my words, Mark them Twain.
